I was fortunate to learn this business from my parents. It's so much more beautiful when it snows. Plants with brightly colored bark look amazing in the snow. This thicket of willows I made from willow whips. I found an old willow on lake-cook road. The plant had cracked in half the winter prior and hundreds of sprouts and small branches had grown out of the stump. I cut four-foot sticks from the tips and stuck the cut sides into the thawed mud in March. The plants took hold and grew into tiny trees. The following winter I cut the tops of the new trees and planted the cut sides in the mud. Every year my willow thicket grows more beautiful. I maintain it at about six to eight feet tall. Dainty leaves and colorful branches fill this moist area along the fence. The cost was nothing and the maintenance requirement is minimal.

I started filming a little late after the storm front passed over my head. I didn't think it was even going to rain. Moments after turning off the camera all hell broke loose. The high winds snapped dozens of old trees in half near the lake
They plant these right around mother's day like we do, but none of the flowers seem to fizzle out here like they do at home. Every hanging basket is near perfect. Vibrant in the middle of summer! Hundreds of baskets hanging from lamp posts throughout the city
