Found this cool native succulent kalanchoe pinnata. I zoom in on the fruits from the fertilized flowers
It's so much more beautiful when it snows. Plants with brightly colored bark look amazing in the snow. This thicket of willows I made from willow whips. I found an old willow on lake-cook road. The plant had cracked in half the winter prior and hundreds of sprouts and small branches had grown out of the stump. I cut four-foot sticks from the tips and stuck the cut sides into the thawed mud in March. The plants took hold and grew into tiny trees. The following winter I cut the tops of the new trees and planted the cut sides in the mud. Every year my willow thicket grows more beautiful. I maintain it at about six to eight feet tall. Dainty leaves and colorful branches fill this moist area along the fence. The cost was nothing and the maintenance requirement is minimal.
